When he came into the squad, he was like a Delhi boy, who would eat golgappas and all. Now he has totally changed. He has become very wise, he understands his body and he eats what his body needs. That is exactly what he is looking to do. And he has become vegetarian (vegan),” Harbhajan told India Today.Harbhajan also admitted that he was surprised to see Kohli’s vegan diet and even asked him what his source of proteins and other nutrients were.WATCH: Harbhajan Singh wishes Virat Kohli”He told me ‘paaji I have arranged for all the proteins and everything that I need. It’s all sorted’. And I’m sure his wife Anushka must have played a big role in this.”He always gives credit to Anushka for making him whatever he is today. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy,” the source said.In November last year, Kohli had revealed his workout and diet plan in a chat show ‘Breakfast with Champions’.Kohli said on the show that he has completely given up butter chicken and naan and revealed how difficult it was to let go of these food items but added that in retrospect, it was the right decision. It takes years of hard work to get into the kind of shape that Kohli exhibits. He revealed how he spends two sessions and four hours in the gym during off season and at least one and a half hours every day.”I have a set breakfast. I eat an omelette, three egg whites, one whole egg. The spinach black pepper and cheese, some grilled bacon or smoked salmon along with it. I eat papaya or dragon fruit if it’s available or watermelon. I eat decent amount of cheese for good fats. I carry my own butters and I get gluten free bread from the hotels…so I apply on that. Then a nice big pot of green tea with lemon, I drink three to four cups of that,” Kohli said on ‘Breakfast with Champions’.”When our trainer Mr. Basu tells me to put on a bit of muscle then I increase red meat. Otherwise generally for lunch it’s grilled chicken and mashed potatoes, spinach and veggies and for dinner it’s seafood,” he said.Kohli’s dedication and will power has been extremely praiseworthy and it has rubbed on to the team as well. It is believed that he made people believe in the team how important it is to follow a strict diet plan and it has helped everyone in the team in terms of fitness.India now are one of the best fielding sides in the world and Kohli’s contribution off the field is a major reason behind the change over the last couple of years.last_img read more
