Bondi Beach set for facelift

first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: K.W Sydney’s famed Bondi Beach is looking to transform itself over the next ten years and is asking the public for suggestions.The new vision sought for the well-known stretch of sand that attracts nearly two million visitors a year, has been devised by  the local council for the beach, park, pavilion and promenade, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.A local politician has suggested the ageing pavilion could be transformed to accommodate emerging IT and creative businesses, expanding the push towards a “creative economy” for the area, which is currently trialling free Wi-Fi.Considerations are also being taken to introduce year-round ball sports (such as beach volleyball), where events took place during the Sydney Olympics in 2000.Traffic and parking will be a key issue with the council expected to consider the viability of underground parking to eliminate cars from the beachfront.last_img
