first_imgThe 61-year-old pandit and his son, who were found murdered in their Delph and Craig Streets, Campbellville, Georgetown home on Tuesday morning will be laid to rest today.Pandit Deonarine Liliah and Gopaul LiliahPandit Deonarine Liliah, called Dewan Liliah, and his 28-year-old son, Gopaul Liliah, were found after a tenant, who lives in the lower flat of the house, reported to Police that she had not seen her landlord or his son for days and that there was a foul smell emanating from the upper flat of the building.Guyana Times was told by a source close to the investigations that the Police were making strides in the investigation.Late Wednesday evening, Police swooped down on a Campbellville house where two suspects, wanted for questioning into the incident, were arrested.This publication was told that CCTV footage from a nearby house revealed a masked man jumping the western fence into the now deceased men’s yard. The footage also showed the suspect entering the home from the northern door and exiting via the back entrance, with two bulky bags and a bucket in his hands.According to information, the duo who lived in the upper flat of the property was last seen by the tenant on July 7, 2018.The 40-year-old woman told the Police that she recalled hearing footsteps about 21:00h on Saturday evening. When ranks from the Kitty Police Station arrived at the house they found the back door ajar and Gopaul Liliah’s lifeless body lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood while his father was lying on his back in the living room.Meanwhile, the bodies will be at Sandy’s Funeral Parlour at 10:00h today for viewing, then to the Good Hope Crematorium for cremation.last_img read more

first_imgSt Eunan’s Club Notes In Association with Letterkenny Shopping Centre.Well done to the U-16 boys footballers who defeated Letterkenny Gaels 3-06 to 1-06 in Monday’s championship game and made it three wins from three games in their group. Our U-14 boys football team (pictured) play in the County Final against Gaoth Dobhair tomorrow evening, Wednesday, September 2nd at 6.30pm in Convoy. Best of luck to all the players and management.The Senior Footballers qualified for the Championship quarter finals with a 0-14 to 1-06 win over Dungloe while the Reserves defeated the same opposition 2-12 to 0-05. Kevin Grant got both goals for the Reserves. Both teams were drawn to face Glenswilly in their respective quarter finals in two weeks time.We host the Ulster Óg Sport Gael (U-15) 7-a-side football finals in O’Donnell Park this Saturday, September 5th. Games begin at 10am, with the final scheduled for 2pm, and will feature all 9 county champions from Ulster. Any members willing to help out are asked to be at the Park at 9am on Saturday.The U-16 girls footballers are away to Glenswilly this evening, Tuesday 1st at 7pm.The U-16 hurlers reached the county league semi final with their win over Mac Cumhaill’s, eventually pulling away after a tight first half. They play away to Burt this Thursday with throw in at 6.30pm. All support welcome. The U-13 girls football team had a great away win at Glenswilly in their first Championship game over the weekend. Training is on Thursday at 6pm and next match for the girls is an away fixture in Convoy, this Saturday.The U-12 Hurling Finals are on Thursday evening, venue and opposition tbc.U-16 hurling training continues on Tuesdays at 5pm and U-12 training also Tuesday at 5.30pm. New hurlers always welcome.Congratulations to our club hurlers who featured on the county hurling development teams last weekend. The U-16 team reached the All Ireland ‘B’ final for the first time ever. The U-14 team, managed by Gordon Randles reached the All Ireland ‘B’ semi final again for the first time and the U-15 team, playing in the U-16 ‘C’ tournament missed out on taking National honours, losing by one point. All the teams were well represented by St. Eunan’s hurlers. Congratulations to everyone involved from our Club.Well done also to the Eunan’s girls on the Donegal U-14 camogie team who retained their Ulster Div. 4 title at the weekend defeating Monaghan in the final.Congratulations to club captain Rory Kavanagh who was part of the Donegal Boston team who won their Senior championship at the weekend.The Hurling Academy continues on Fridays at 6.30pm while the Century Cinemas Football Academy is on Sundays at 11am. New members are always welcome to both academies.
